11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.
As people living in a major metropolitan area, it can sometimes be a challenge to relate to scriptural texts that have to do with farming, pastures, and caring for the land. But whether we are harvesting fields of grain, tending sheep, working the trading floor of a stock market, or sitting at a board room table, we can all relate to the idea that God is the source of our life and of the richness in our lives.
It is God that gives us each breath that we breathe, and God that grants us the energy for our daily tasks. God provides for us the means to work and to live and to prosper. What kind of year are we having? Are we experiencing the bounty of our lives?
