"I thank you that you have answered me
and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected
has become the chief cornerstone.
This is the Lord’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it."
In terms of the calendar of the Christian Church, Easter isn't just a one-day affair. It's a six-week "season." In fact, in Christian traditions that celebrate "feast days," there are eight such special holidays that follow Easter Sunday.
I point this out simply to say that we don't spend 40 days of Lent focusing on "darker" themes in order to spend only a single day on the theme of resurrection. Rather, Christians know how to properly celebrate the great event of our spiritual year.
The cornerstone of our faith is not sadness or regret or pain or sorrow. The cornerstone of our faith is resurrected and resurrecting. What a blessing to be a part of a tradition that emphasizes joy, goodness, love, and life! Let us continue to celebrate our special season, beyond Easter Sunday.
