"In the beginning, Lord, you founded the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like clothing; like a cloak you will roll them up, and like clothing they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will never end."
With the kind of winter we've been having, it's quite possible that many of us have focused recently on clothes, gloves, hats, or scarves that are wearing out, wearing thin, or that need to be replaced. Or maybe some of us have even been optimistically looking through our springtime clothes to see what kind of shape we're in for the warmer months ahead.
Clothes wear out, as the scripture reminds us. All physical things do. They fall apart over time. Our hope as believers is in a God who does not "wear out," a God who is eternal and everlasting. So as our lives are ever-changing, tumultuous, and as the days of all physical things are numbered, we take comfort in a God who not only endures forever, but who welcomes us to join Him in everlasting life.
