Hebrews 4: 1-11
"So then, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God; for those who enter God's rest also cease from their labors as God did from his. Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs."
Do you ever feel that you are going, going, going, all the time and that life is just racing by at an exhausting pace? Do you ever feel as though you are always behind on a list of tasks that never ends and always grows? It seems that somehow God can relate, because God builds into His plan a time for setting aside the work and concentrating on rest and renewal.
The scriptures teach us that a healthy life has a particular rhythm and that we get "out of rhythm" when we fail to take regular times to rest, relax, and renew. Traditionally, we think of Sunday as our day of rest, but we can also take time each day for small "sabbath moments." In fact, isn't that what we're doing right now? Does it help ease the fast-paced movement and the exhaustion to know that God rests and that God wants us to rest? My prayer is that we find these moments of quiet reflection refreshing and renewing.
