Ephesians 1: 7-14
“In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.”
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians was written while he was in prison. He is clearly trying to unite the diverse people of Ephesus by uniting them into a Trinitarian mindset. This was a very different image for these people to grasp. Paul does it with the love and grace of a leader, absent - yet connected.
Let’s imagine his prayer: Holy God, bless the new church as they strive to learn about you and the sacrifice your Son made on our behalf. In my absence, send the Holy Spirit in their midst so they may feel your presence and be assured of your love. Amen
