Rich in Mercy

by Rev. Lynn Sullivan

Ephesians 2: 1-10

Paul is reminding the followers in Ephesus that their past actions separated them from living the life God had intended.  The language is harsh:  “You were dead through the trespasses and sins which you once lived.”  Paul goes onto say that we all were guilty of the same sins.  Then – finally – he gives us good news, “But God, who is rich in mercy, our of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.”

The good news is that by Grace we are made whole.

While this is great news, I believe we need to want to receive God’s grace.  We have to want this Gift from God.

Let this season of Lent be a time that we cleanse our souls by giving God our garbage and receiving God’s unconditional love.
