"Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation."
It's hard sometimes to ask for help. We want to be the ones that others come to for guidance, education, and support. We want to project authority and knowledge. We gravitate toward being in charge, in control, in command.
Yet the call in scripture is to obedience and learning. We are called to acknowledge our weaknesses, our ignorance, and our need to follow. Thankfully, the one who calls is gracious and wise, rather than arrogant and oppressive.
It's ok to acknowledge that we don't know. It's ok to yield control and to accept that we're not in charge. That's part of the freedom of Lent and the freedom of being a follower of God.
