Psalm 51: 1-17

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me…Restore to me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit.”  Vs 10, 12

Not all churches include a prayer of confession every Sunday.  I am glad we do because I believe we need to be reminded that it is easy to get mis-aligned with our faith and purpose.  This Psalm is a wonderful prayer of confession.  What I like about it, is that in the middle, we have the words of assurance.  God can restore us and give us a clean heart.  God does not want us to be broken, but delights in our desire to be restored.

Thank you , God, for having mercy upon us, and cleansing us from our wrongdoings.  We are grateful  that you want us to fee the joy of your presence,  and be refreshed and renewed by your Grace and Love.  Turn us around so we can see your face, and be warmed by your glow.  Amen
