Mark 9: 2-9
This passage is the lectionary reading for Sunday. It is known as Transfiguration Sunday, as Jesus was transfigured before the disciples. The story line is that Jesus goes off and prays to God, seeking guidance whether he truly has to take the final journey to Jerusalem, knowing all that awaits him.
God not only gave Jesus an answer, he gave Jesus a sign by bringing Moses and Elijah to talk with him.
When you have a tough decision to make, who do you turn to for assurance or guidance?
God gave us that answer as well, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him.”
Let us pray: Holy God, we may not have the opportunity to climb up a mountain or receive visitors like Moses and Elijah, but if we tune into your Spirit, we know Jesus is always by our side. The next time we have a tough decision or dilemma, we promise to take it to Jesus in prayer. Amen
