Volunteer & Service Opportunities

Volunteering to help in the church is a great way to make connections with other church members, be involved in the ministry of the church and make a difference in the community. There are many places to volunteer your time and talents.

Office Angels

A dedicated group of volunteers make themselves available to help the Church office with the many mailings and clerical tasks that need to be accomplished on a weekly basis. We call them our Office Angels and the office would not function as efficiently as it does without their help.

The Angels help collate, label, fold and stuff envelopes for our Newsletters, mailings from all the various groups of the Church as well as special holiday mailings.

Some of our special Angels come in on a weekly basis and help answer phones, greet guests, maintain Church attendance records, water plants, and set up prayer services.

Anyone who has the time and spirit to offer is welcome to join our choir of Office Angels in their very special ministry.

The Thursday Luncheon Group

One of our most treasured outreaches is the Thursday Luncheon for our community Senior Citizens. Meeting most second and fourth Thursdays at noon in the Parlor, our Senior Citizens (church members and community residents) enjoy the opportunity to get out and fellowship with others.

If you are looking for an opportunity to serve with minimal commitment, this is a wonderful way to give to the people we love and revere.

Opportunities include:

  • Drivers (pick up the homebound people)
  • Hostess and Greeter (set the tables, bring a dessert and serve with coffee and tea)
  • Program (provide about half an hour talk on the topic of your choice. Past programs have been about trips, hobbies, musical selections and informative topics such as health and safety, finances and taxes, to name a few)

Please contact the church office, at 516-746-1700 to volunteer.

Outreach Volunteers

The Board of Outreach offers many opportunities for volunteers. We assist at the INN – Interfaith Nutrition Network on a regular basis. We collect food and clothing for those in need. Calls for outreach volunteers are posted in the monthly newsletters.

Church School & Youth Volunteers

The Church school and Youth programs offer many varied and rewarding volunteer opportunities.

Church School teachers – Church members volunteer to teach a portion of the school year for children age 3 to grade 7

Youth Leaders – Adults church members are needed to volunteer as leaders for the Confirmation classes and the Youth Fellowship meetings.

Mission Trip - Adult volunteers accompany the youth from the Confirmation classes on their yearly mission trip.

Fellowship Volunteers

Are you willing to help out your church but just don’t have time to attend meetings? Do you enjoy working with great people on fun events? Then the Fellowship Committee is the place for you!

The Fellowship Committee is looking for volunteers to join. There are no meetings and you only have to help out where you are able. The Fellowship Committee helps out with the Palm Sunday and Advent breakfasts, summer fun events like a Trip to the Mets or Yankees and any other events that bring Church members together. As a volunteer you would be contacted when events are upcoming and sign up to help where you could.
