Overview of Church Boards and Organizations

Council of Trustees
The Council of Trustees consists of the Chairpersons of the Boards of the Church as well as members at large elected by the congregation at the Annual Meeting. The Council has primary responsibility for the property and funds of the church. The Council oversees the work of the various Boards and their place in the work of the entire Church. The Council meets once a month.
Board of Deacons
The Board of Deacons oversees the spiritual life and pastoral care of the Church. They are responsible for all aspects of worship – including preparation and administration of the Sacraments, communion servers, music & ushers. They work with the ministers to develop innovative and meaningful worship. They are concerned with the pastoral needs of the congregation and minister to the poor, the sick & the sorrowing.
Board of Christian Education
The Board of Christian Education is responsible for the nurture of the Christian Faith and teachings to the children, youth and adults of the Church. It plans and supervises, in cooperation with the Ministers, the Church School, Youth programs (including Confirmation), Adult education and special programs related to Christian Education. It also oversees the operation of the Nursery School.
Board of Outreach
The Board of Outreach is responsible for the extension of the work of the Church beyond the Church membership. They focus on Global Mission, Local ministries and Christian Responsibility. They inform the membership of mission opportunities and administer the budget allocated for mission programs. They also maintain a relationship on behalf of our Church with the ministries of the United Church of Christ.
Board of Membership Life & Development
The Board of Membership Life and Development is responsible for the development and implementation of programs to foster Church membership and strengthen the life of the Church. MLD oversees the Shepherd program and all programs to help new members become a vital part of the Church. They oversee the Fellowship committee and well as the Fellowship Hours on Sunday morning. The Church website and its maintenance also are the responsibility of MLD.
Board of Finance & Administration
The Board of F & A has responsibility for the management of the property and funds of the Church. The Board prepares an annual budget for approval by the congregation. They maintain the Committee on Personnel Practices that oversees all matters pertaining to the employees of the Church. The Board also includes a Memorial Fund Committee, an Endowment Fund Committee and an Investment Committee.
Ushers Ministry
The Usher Ministry is established by the Board of Deacons. The Ushers attend to the details related to the convenience of the congregation at all Services of Worship. They prepare the sanctuary for worship, receive offerings & greet worshippers.
Music Ministry
The Music Ministry is established by the Board of Deacons. The Music Ministry, in consultation with the Pastor and Minister of Music, designs and implements the total music program for the Church. They oversee the Adult Choir, the Bell Choir & the Youth Choir. They also present special music programs throughout the year.
Committee for Christian Social Responsibility
The CCSR is established by the Board of Outreach. They promote the study and action by Church members on local, national, international problems and issues of concern to Christians. They plan and present the Forums (speakers on timely issues) each week before worship.
