About the Auxiliary

When the Auxiliary was formed in 1930, just one year after the birth of the church, its mission was to promote the purpose of the church and to raise funds for the furtherance of that work.

Fair

Today, the Auxiliary continues that tradition and performs a vital function within the church focusing mainly on fundraising, but also fulfilling friendship and fellowship needs.

Fundraising

The Auxiliary's major fundraising event each year is the Election Day Fair. It is greatly anticipated and well known throughout Garden City and surrounding communities. It takes place in the church and offers shoppers a wide variety of merchandise...china, linens, a garden shop, books, jewelry, toys, a silent auction, trash and treasure, and more, all donated by the church members. Also included in our Election Day Fair is Main Street Market Place, with new merchandise being sold by vendors. There are also smaller fundraising efforts, which vary from year to year, including plant sales, raffles and silent auctions.

Why the Auxiliary is so important to the church!

We have financed several office renovations, a phone system, copy machines and computers, video cameras to tape the church services, choir robes, pagers for the crib room, and the renovation of the parlor. Just in the past 5 years alone, the Auxiliary has contributed over $ 140,000 to the church.

Friendship

The Auxiliary reaches out to those in need by making contributions to selected charities and donating Christmas toys to children who have mothers in prison. It's easy to make new friends joining the Auxiliary which is open to all members of the congregation; men, women and teenagers.

Fellowship

Do you want to enjoy a fun night on the town with your friends? Or take yoga classes? Or paint pottery at Once Upon a Dish in Garden City. Or attend Mystery wine and chocolate tasting ? Or learn how to play bridge? These are just some of the fellowship opportunities that have been offered through the Auxiliary. Shop the Block is our spring vendor shopping event and bake sale held in conjunction with the Youth Car Wash raising monies for the Mission Trip.
And let's not forget our traditional Fall Events: the Membership Tea, the Chrysanthemum Bridge; the Election Day Fair, and the Christmas Luncheon & Toy Collection for the families of prisoners at Bedford Hills Correctional facility.

We hope you will join us to celebrate the spirit of our Church, Fellowship, and Fundraising.

We Need You

FairThe Auxiliary needs your help to function efficiently and to remain an effective
organization within the church. There are many ways you can contribute

• Help with the Election Day Fair by baking, sorting donated items, pricing merchandise, selling on Fair day, or taking charge of a room
• Organize a special fellowship event, program or fundraiser
• Join the Auxiliary Board - there are many diverse responsibilities and we only meet once a month
• Support the Auxiliary with your membership dues.

You can learn more about how to help by attending the September Membership Luncheon or calling any Board member.

Membership Dues
Membership dues are $20.00. This money helps to offset the operating expenses of the Auxiliary. All church members can support the Auxiliary and its mission by paying dues. Typically our membership drive is in the fall, however, you can join and pay dues anytime. Please call a Membership Chairperson for more information.
